Proposed Clonmel Street Name changes 1922

This page details the proposed street name changes in 1922, made by a committee chaired by Cllr. Frank Drohan. At the time the committee was making its considerations, Clonmel was under the control of the irregular forces of the IRA.
In August 1922, the Free State Army entered Clonmel and the proposals never came into force.
Clonmel kept the English names on many streets, unlike many other town in Ireland, that made changes at the time.
